God’s Stewards 1982-2012
* 1981 – Pastor Melvin Velasco – led the first group of believers. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Rufino C. Raut opened their doors as the place for fellowship of the families of Mr.and Mrs Manuel Maquiling Sr., Mr and Mrs Jessie Bandiola, and Pastor and Mrs. Velasco. After six months, this group of believers moved to a nearby coconut plantation, west side of Barangay Guihing. Here in this place, the first Kindergarten school was built for free. Mrs. Elizabeth Velasco was the first kindergarten teacher. Ten children with ages ranging from five to six years were admitted. This kids’ school was supported by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lippert of Modesto, California, U.S.A
The group continued their ministry in spite of trials and difficulties and later moved again to the home of Mrs. Angeles Raut. It was in this place that the first kindergarten graduation was held.

The church also elected its officers within a two- year term to comprise the Council to help the Pastor with the pastoral work. Elected as Chairman of the Council was Mr. Nicasio S. Cortez; Vice Chair – Mrs. Letecia Elatagonde; Secretary Mrs. Betty Patanao; Treasurer, Mrs. Teresita Llanos; auditor, Mr. Jessie Lusoc; P.I.O- Mr. Andrew Patanao. For the Board of Deacons Mrs. Elena Maquiling was elected as Chairman. Members of the Board of Deacons were Mr. Camilo Eltagonde,Mrs. Shiana Viran. Property Custodian was Mrs. Lily Molina and Mrs. Rosalinda Bacule was designated Sunday School Superintendent (Christian Education Director)
July 27, 1986 – Pastora Teresita Dulay-Lusoc term : CBCC celebrated its Third Foundation Anniversary. The speaker was Miss Lucy Buizon. The Church Council decided to call Pastora Teresita Dulay Lusoc. As a confirmation of the call, she signed her contract with CBCC on July 27, for a term of one year from August 1, 1986 to August 1, 1987.
November 16, 1986 – Celebration of the FIRST THANKSGIVING SUNDAY with the theme “ The Best For Him”. Dr. Wilfredo Espada was the speaker. Being faithful believers of Christ, the group continued the task towards the fulfillment of His ministry on earth. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert King was opened for those who are thirsty for the truth and ready to dedicate their life for Christ. Their home became the BIBLE STUDY CENTER which was scheduled every Friday evening.
The new host pastor conducted a seminar for those willing to be members of the pulpit committee. Chosen were Mrs. Dolly Ibanez, Mrs. Rosalinda Bacule, Mr. Nicasio Cortez and Mrs. Letecia Eltagonde.
August 12, 1989 – Pstr. Remias Salmeron : With the help of Rev. Alfeo Tupas; a new pastor was called. He was a graduate of CBBC Bakyas, Bacolod City. Pastor Remias Salmeron, 27 year old pastor, . from Iprog, Iloilo was accompanied by Engineer Junjun Castillo.
November 22, 1992.Pstr. Melgar Esclares : After the term of Pstr. Salmeron, CBCC called a new pastor, Pstr. Melgar Esclares from _______Neg. Occ. Fifteen souls received Jesus Christ and were baptized at Aplaya Beach administered by Pastor Melgar Esclares. This was in consonance with the Thanksgiving Day celebration.
January 1993 – The congregation elected new set of Church Council officers to help the pastor in the ministry. Elected chairman was Mrs. Salome Reducto; vice-chairman Mrs. Teresita Llanos; Secretary Mrs. Lily Francisco; Treasurer Mrs. Shiana Viran; Financial Secretary Mrs. Betty Patanao; Auditor Mrs. Aurora King; Business Manager Miss Cecilia Gallardo; Advisers Mr. Nicasio cortez and Mrs. Rosalinda Bacule. For the Board of Deacons, elected Chairman was Mrs. Rosalinda Bacule; members were Mrs. Dolly Ibanez, Mrs. Teresita Llanos, Mr. Nicasio Cortez; Christian Education Director was Mrs. Rosalinda Bacule; Sunday School Superintendent Mr. Nick Cortez; Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Dolly Ibanez.
November 21, 1993. Another Thanksgiving Sunday was celebrated. Continuing the mission of winning souls, eleven people were baptized.
November 27, 1994 – Ten new members joined the church and were baptized during the celebration of Thanksgiving Day. This was administered by Pastor Melgar Esclares at Guihing Aplaya.
July 30, 2001 – Pstr. Vic Concerman : 18th Foundation Anniversary and a new pastor was called taking the place of Pastor Melgar who finished his term from April 1, 1992 to April 1, 1999,Pastor Vic H. Concerman. He was also the speaker expounding on the theme of the celebration “VICTORY IN CHRIST.” He served the church from 2001 to 2003.
Year 2003 : Another pastor’s call for Pstr. Napoleon Ochia to take the place of Pstr. Vic Concerman. He served the church from 2003 to 2007.
December 2005: New set of Council officers was installed into office as the term of the previous officers had terminated. Elected Chairman of the Council was Mr. Nicasio S. Cortez; Vice Chairman Mrs. Lourdes Cepeda; Secretary Mrs. Mary Ann Devalgue; Assistant Secretary Miss Sheryl Sarcauga; Treasurer Mrs. Lilibeth Francisco; auditor Dr. Aurora King; Business Manager Mrs. Jecila Cortez; P.I.O. Ireneo Cobol; Property Custodian Mrs Alice Ochia; Sunday School Superintendent Mr. Danny Devalgue. Board of Deacons chairman Mr. Samuel Garcia,Sr. Members Mrs. Letecia Eltagonde;Mrs. Lourdes Cepeda;Mrs Betty Patanao; Mr. Ireneo Cobol.
April 2007 – the term of Pastor Napoleon Ochia has ended after three years of serving the church. Having experienced financial difficulties, the congregation had decided not to call a fulltime pastor . So, for almost two years the church had no steward, however, Three pastors volunteered to help in the ministry, Pastor Melgar Esclares, Pastor Vic Concerman and Pastor Remias Salmeron. They took turns in the pulpit every Sunday.
Year 2008 – The church felt the need of a pastor so the congregation decided to call a fulltime pastor. Mr. Lucio Terre and Mr. Marvin Ochia were sent to attend the SEMBC in South Cotabato to look for a single pastor.They were not able to find one so Mr. Lucio Terre volunteered to attend the Annual Convention in Bacolod City to find a pastor for Guihing. With the help of Mr. Nonie Francisco and Miss Scarlet Panado the church drafted a call for a pastor , was approved by the Council and the congregation.

August 22, 2010 – As the church continues to grow in the ministry, seven young people were baptized at Aplaya Mangrove with Pastor BJ officiating.
October 17, 2010 – A special baptismal was administered by Pastor BJ to one soul who accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. Jolly Rios was administered the Baptism of Water having received then the free gift of salvation.
December 13, 2010 – A very significant date for CBCC . The long time dream of putting up a kindergarten school has come to reality. The dream was concretized with the help and support of the Church Council chaired by Pastor Vic Concerman and inspired by Pastor BJ Bactung and the following people, Mayor Franco Calida who donated one cubic meter sand and gravel, Vice Mayor Myrna Raut two bags cement, cash donations from Mrs. Herminia Bandiola, Mr. Samuel Garcia, Mr. Lucio Terre, Michelle Aquino, Pastor Bj and Mrs. Lourdes Cepeda.
December 19, 2010 – For the first time CBCC celebrated Thanksgiving Day in December. It was a “Thanksgiving in Christmas”. The Speaker of this two- in -one activity was Pastor Eric “ Collins” Diaz of CBC at Tinagacan, Gen Santos City.
March 09, 2011 – Blessing and Dedication of the Kindergarten school with its name “Little Joseph Learning Center”. Being gifted by God with artistic ability and creativeness, Pastor BJ volunteered to do the painting of the room depicting the Garden of Eden. He was also designated as the school administrator ; Principal is Mrs. Aurora I. King ,Ed.D; Mrs. Herminia B. Bandiola, retired public school teacher as Comptroller/Treasurer. Lourdes Cepeda, retired public school teacher who will handle Kindergarten II and Mrs. Dorie Concerman, wife of Pastor Vic Concerman for Kindergarten I. By June 2011, the school will formally open its doors for young kids.
Aug. 2009 – six new members accepted Christ as their personal Savior and submitted for baptism at Guihing Aplaya
Aug. 2010 – Another seven new members joined fellowship with CBCC after their baptism

Feb 2012 – As the soul-winning continues, One soul accepted Christ through water baptism at Camocaan.
March 24, 2012 – first Moving Up ( graduation) of Little Joseph Christian Learning Center. Four K2 pupils; 17 K1; and six(6) nursery pupils. Guest Speaker was Mrs. Rachel Raut- Pogoy.
July 29, 2012 : 29th Foundation Anniversary with its theme: “If We Obey”
To date, through the collaborative efforts of the previous pastors and the present host pastor, the Church Council and members, CBCC has served the community in the various fields of endeavor; the dynamic linkages of the church elders with non-government organizations and government agencies manifests its commitment as the church strives to fulfill its vision, mission and goals with realistic optimism for God’s glory.
